Rattan Clean & Care Guide

This care guide is here to help you get the most out of your furniture. To ensure a long lifespan, you need to know how to care for our products. With a variety of items requiring different levels of care, this product care guide provides you with all the tips and tricks to keep your furniture in flawless condition.

1.Use a handheld vacuum or brush attachment to remove loose dust and dirt particles. This will prevent dirt from accumulating in the weave.

Removing stubborn deposits:

  • Use a soft toothbrush to remove dust deposits from corners.
  • Clean the area under the cushions with the crevice tool of the vacuum.
  • Blow compressed air into tight spaces to dislodge dust and dirt.

2.Use a toothbrush, a cocktail stick, or another fine tool to remove dirt and mold.

3.Use a bowl of warm, soapy water and wipe the rattan with a damp cloth. Avoid soaking the rattan excessively with water.

4.Let it dry. Typically, allow the rattan to air dry unless it is excessively wet. If there's excess water, dry the furniture with a soft cloth.

    Annual Cleaning Instructions:

Once a year, all cushions should be removed, and the furniture inspected for issues while also caring for the rattan. Before starting the thorough annual cleaning, follow the steps for weekly and monthly cleaning.

Check for issues in the rattan:

Check for mold and mildew, which usually occurs on the lampshade.

    Removing mold and mildew:

If mold is present, mix a solution of equal parts chlorine bleach and water. Wear protective gloves, dip a soft cloth into the bleach solution, and apply it to the affected area. Try not to oversaturate the rattan. Place the furniture outdoors in the sun to dry it as quickly as possible.

    Caring for the rattan:

After dusting, treating stains, eliminating mold, and cleaning with soapy foam, allow the rattan to dry completely. Then, dip a clean, soft cloth into boiled linseed oil and use it to care for the rattan. Start from the top of the furniture to avoid drips and wipe the rattan with the oil. The oil moisturizes to strengthen the fibers and prevent breaks. Let the furniture dry completely for at least 48 hours before reattaching the cushions.

    Tip:

When purchasing boiled linseed oil, opt for the cooked version as it dries faster than regular linseed oil. Find boiled linseed oil at the store.
